• Import stl file of model
• Edit (on left menu/icon bar)
• Plane Cut
• Slice (keep both)
• default Remeshed Fill
• Accept
• Edit options menu re-opens
• Separate Shells (took some time)
• select one of the halves
• File - Save As - some filename .mix (not strictly necessary)
• File Export (filetype Ascii stl)
• Warning non-manifold errors - Continue
• repeat for other half
• load into Slic3r and slice as usual (rotate bottom so flat side is on bed)
