-----
- Connect antenna to dongle.
- Plug dongle into Dell Windows tower USB port
- Navigate to:
... masterWorkingFiles/Tech/ham radio/SDR/software/rtl-sdr/sdrsharp-x86
- Double-click: SDRSharp.exe
- Well this was a bust. When I click the play button this time (even though previously it worked and initiated reception with audio), SDRSharp screen now says something like, "can't communicate with RTL-SDR." Say what?
Searching online forums finds lots of people complaining about the same thing, with lots of advice on how to fix it, un-installing and re-installing drivers, etc. Have not done anything yet. Will attempt to get it up on Linux first...
- OTOH, RTL-SDR site says to just run zadig again to fix the problem. Will try it...
- Plugged in dongle. This time, no "device ready" notification, even after > 5min.
- Right-click on zadig.exe and select "Run as administrator"
- In Zadig, click Options, select "list all devices", and un-check "ignore hubs"
- click drop-down arrow in device field, and select RTL2838UHIDIR
USB ID shows "0BDA 2838"
- click replace driver. About 20 sec to "driver installed successfully". Closed zadig.
- double-click SDRSharp.exe
Source was still set to RTL-SDR (USB)"
- click play, and after some seconds, "cannot access RTL device"
- ...
- (go to:) SDR#
