dual-boot - Next Steps
-----

  • Enable booting on Windows PC from USB stick:

  • Linux initial boot-up from USB stick:
    • recommended to select 'compatibility' mode
    • Linux came up successfully, and shows 4.1gb available storage space
      • Since I have not yet done anything with disk partitions, this is just a trial run of Linux, since there's not enough memory allocated to it to do anything useful.
      • one source said that all files in Windows installation would be accessible to Linux, visible in Linux File Manager, but I can't see them so far.
    • Initial testing in this mode:
cannot access my router, meaning printer and internet are not available.
However another source said that, with Ubuntu at least, wireless connection should be possible even in test mode
    • Best guess at the moment is that main problem is that I have not actually "installed" Linux yet.
    • There will be a DVD icon on desktop to Install Linux.

Proceed to: dual-boot - Prepare to Install
