• .htaccess
  In Drupal 7 you start with two .htaccess files.
  One file is located in the document root. This protects some key files and folders. It is also involved in re-writing the site's URLs.
  There's also another .htaccess file in the /sites/default/files/ folder, which contains all the files we upload to the site. This allows us to protect some of these files if we need to.
• Extracting files:
  Type the following command and replace "7.x" with your downloaded version's number:
  $ tar -xvzf drupal-7.x.tar.gz
  Then remove the compressed version of the file by using the following command:
  $ rm drupal-7.x.tar.gz
• resetting drupal admin password:
  the page http://example.com/user/password has a form that takes username or email address and sends a one-time auto login link
  with instructions to set new password.

• Firefox addons:
  there are two addons for Firefox that are a must for web development - "Web Developer" and "Firebug".
  they make HTML and CSS development 100x easier.
• Cross-browser incompatibility notes:
  The different browsers render HTML and CSS differently, and some of the variations are quite dramatic.
  Making a site look identical across all browsers and platforms is both an art and a science, and there are innumerate articles and books out there on the subject.
  So, I'd suggest that you Google for the topic and read about how to handle this issue, but a couple of pointers to focus on:
  IE is famous for calculating the width of elements differently than other browsers.

  Also, be aware of your "DOCTYPE" declaration at the very top of your page.
  This property makes the browser act (even more!) differently depending on its setting. You need to ensure that the HTML/CSS you are using is taking this value into account.
