Drupal: Restore Site from Backup

  • Restore Files:
    • Put site into Maintenance Mode.
    • Log in to BH
      Helpful Links -> Advanced -> File Manager
      Go to root directory: public_html
    • Delete all files in your drupal root directory:

    • Click upload (top menu bar)
      On your PC, browse to the zip file you saved that you want to restore
      Double-click the file
    • in BH FM, in your root directory, right-click the zip file you uploaded, and select extract
      Confirm destination is correct, click confirm, then close
    • Delete the zipped file from your root directory

  • Restore DB:
    • log in to BH
      scroll down to Helpful links
      Advanced -> phpMyAdmin
    • Click Databases (at top).
      Click the name of the database you are restoring.
    • First delete all the tables in the db you have online:
      Scroll to bottom, select "check all".
      In "with selected" field, click "drop", yes to confirm.

    • Now restore the tables from your backup:
      Import -> browse to backup db on your PC,
      click db backup file, whether .sql or .sql.zip
      scroll down to Go

    • Take site out of Maintenance Mode.
      Your root directory should be restored.
