• Specs:
  • The ESP32 and ESP8266 from Espressif are microcontrollers with Wifi and Bluetooth modules.
    Both chips have a 32-bit processor.
  • Note: Both these modules require 3.3 supply voltage.
  • The ESP32 is faster, with a dual-core 160MHz to 240MHz CPU,
    vs. the ESP8266 which has a single-core CPU running at 80MHz.
  • The ESP32:
    520 KB ram
    448 KB ROM
    No EEPROM, however emulate same with flash memory
    has more GPIO than 8266...
    faster wifi ...
    a built-in hall effect sensor ...
    has touch-sensitive pins that can be used to wake up the ESP32 from deep sleep ...
  • The ESP8266:
    has two on-board LED's
    They are accessed via GPIO-16 and GPIO-2
    They are reverse logic - turn them ON by writing the pin LOW.

• Tips:
  • When you set your ESP32 board as a wifi access point, you can be connected using any device with Wi-Fi capabilities without connecting to your router. When you set the ESP32 as an access point, you create its own Wi-Fi network, and nearby Wi-Fi devices (stations) can connect to it, like your smartphone or computer.

    Now you'll need to put the board into bootload mode. You'll have to do this before each upload. There is no timeout for bootload mode, so you don't have to rush!
    Hold down the GPIO0 button, the red LED will be lit
    While holding down GPIO0, click the RESET button
    Release RESET, then release GPIO0
    When you release the RESET button, the red LED will be lit dimly, this means it's ready to bootload

    Once the ESP board is in bootload mode, upload the sketch via the IDE

    
    Connect an electrolytic cap (1 - 10 uf) between ground and EN pin. This reportedly eliminates the need to press the reset button.
