Perf+ Layout and Build Procedure:

  • My temperature probe project to monitor my garden compost pile uses a 3.7v LiPo battery.
However the Arduino Nano that runs it requires 5v.
So I'm using a Pololu step-up module to get 5v from the 3.7v battery.

This interface board holds the Pololu step-up converter, and also a switch to connect the internal 3.7 LiPo to either the Pololu to power the Nano, or to an external plug to allow charging the intertnal battery.

  • The board is built using the PerfPlus prototyping board

  • PerfPlus build process:

    • Place components:
    • ...

    • Define component bridges to vertical bus:
    • ...
      ...

    • Lay out Circuit Traces:
      ...
      • Note: bus bridges have not been marked yet, except those on the vertical busses needed at the components.

    • Mark bus bridges:
      ...
      ...
      • Note-1: These holes are used as feedthroughs to connect the horizontal trace on one side to the vertical trace on the other side, so they need bridges to both.
      • Note-2: These holes only connect to traces on one side of the board, so they only need one bridge.,

    • Mark Trace Cuts:
      ...
      Minimum cuts
      ...
      Recommended cuts

    • Create Build Lists:
      • Cut List:
        ...
