- Introduction:
- The rPi Imager program is installed and run on a host computer.
Your host computer does not need to be an rPi,
but it must have an SD card reader.
- It allows you to download the rPiOS onto an SD card in the reader.
Then you can install the SD card into your rPi to supply the OS and boot your rPi.
- It requires an internet connection, and will step you through the process of writing the OS to your SD card.

- Get latest Raspberry Pi Imager from link above:
click on: "Download for Ubuntu for x86"
1.7.4_amd64.deb was downloaded
2024-10-05: "2024-07-04-raspios-bookworm-armhf.img.xz"
Double-click it to install it.

- Use Imager program to write OS to SD card:
- Open Linux Mint menu (lower left corner of screen),
type imager in search bar,
"Raspberry Pi Imager" with rpi logo should be listed. Click to open it.
- Raspberry Pi Imager v1.7.2 (or your version) will open.
Left button asks to "Choose OS"
Select 32-bit version or 64-bit version depending on your particular model of rPi.
- Right button asks to "Choose Storage"
Plug SD card of your choice into USB port with reader.
"Generic mass storage 64GB" option or something similar will come up. Select it.
- Now a Write button comes up on the screen. Click it.
Answer yes to prompt warning all existing data will be overwritten.
Write and verification process will take several minutes.
