- FCC sanctioned as un-licensed "Part-95" service
- The MURS band has 5 channels
between 151.82 and 154.6 MHz:

151.880 MHz (11.25 KHz bandwidth)

- Max transmit power is 2W,
however there is no restriction on antenna gain,
and different or external antennas may be used,
so Effective Radiated Power can be increased.
Output power amps are prohibited.
- Antenna height is a max of 20' above a structure, or 60' above the ground, whichever is greater.
- MURS radios can be mobile, handheld or base station,
and can be used for voice or data,
remote control or telemetry.
- As in all radio communication modes, monitor the channel before transmitting,
and give priority to emergency communication.
- MURS radios may not be used as repeaters.
- MURS radios may not connect to phone services.
- MURS radios cannot be operated in continuous carrier transmit mode.
- MURS channels can be used for business or commercial applications.
- MURS radios must be approved and certified by FCC.
You can listen to MURS channels with a ham radio, but you cannot legally transmit, even if using proper bands and power,
unless your ham radio happens to be certified for MURS, which most are not.
